"The therapist under the supervision of Dr. Ripplinger was able to help me process some of the things I needed help with"
Kia Yin MHC-I Therapist Intern
My clients learn practical skills to approach challenging situations with increased flexibility and ease. I will help you make decisions you believe in and feel good about. While you learn to manage your anxiety and overcome psychological hurdles, we will work together to find a sustained sense of meaning in life. I integrate techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and evidence-based mindfulness practice.
As a first-generation immigrant from China with years of experience working across diverse cultures, I bring curiosity and sensitivity to every encounter. I understand how difficult it can be when you are torn between what your family wants for you, and what you want for yourself. I strive to learn about how each of my clients’ unique lived experiences affects their responses to the world around them.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I was a product marketing manager at Google with 9 years of corporate experience. I also worked as a crisis hotline counselor, a Design Your Life trainer and facilitator, and a consultant for an NGO. Therapy helped me identify and live in line with my values, which has led to many changes, including my choice to be a therapist and a life with increased fulfillment. I hold a BA in Media and Cultural Studies from Brown University. I am currently earning my MA and an Ed.M in Mental Health Counseling from Columbia University.
I offer therapy in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
