About Sanam
My therapeutic approach is integrative, dynamic, and holistic, which encourages the utilization of several different treatment modalities. I incorporate techniques and skills from Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Mindfulness.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling and Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, both from Baruch College and am trained from The Gottman Institute in Couples Therapy. I have worked in a variety of settings, including private practice, crisis intervention, schools, and non-profit organizations and have engaged as an at-risk youth counselor for individuals ages 12-24 years old. During the pandemic, I was a pod facilitator and counselor for the NYC COVID Care Network, providing support to individuals and families affected by COVID-19. My areas of interest include interpersonal relationships, conflict, anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief.
As a multicultural woman and native New Yorker, I truly have an appreciation for other cultures and strive to always validate my clients experiences. I honor my client’s uniqueness and understand that everyone walks their own special path. My hope is that I can play an integral role in helping clients along the journey.
